Dear RAS Families,
Welcome to the 2017-18 school year. We hope your summer has been enjoyable, but we are eager for students to be in our classes learning. We are very excited to have you and your children as part of the RAS Family. Every staff member has been working diligently to prepare for the return of our students. We have set high expectations and made plans to guarantee that every student at RAS will have the opportunity to be successful this school year.
Student academic, behavioral, and vocational success is the main goal of every staff member at RAS. We believe that every student will learn and we are prepared to offer time and support to every student so that they can find individual success. We ask for your support and participation in this effort by sending your child to school every day, encouraging your child daily, monitoring your child’s coursework and community/vocational service, and asking your child to share what they learned at school each day.
Also, our dress code is the same as last year black, grey or white collared shirts and khaki, black, or blue pants or jeans. No other colors are permitted. Students should not bring backpacks to school for safety reasons.
In September RAS will celebrate national attendance awareness month. School attendance is essential to academic success, but too often students, parents and schools don’t realize how quickly absences, excused or unexcused, can add up to academic trouble. Chronic absence can lead to third graders unable to master reading, sixth graders failing courses and sophomores dropping out of high school. Please help to honor national attendance awareness month by making sure your student is present daily throughout the 17-18 school year.
We greatly appreciate your cooperation while kicking off the school year. We look forward to seeing you and your child(ren) at our Student Led Conferences (SLC’s) on October 26th/27th 2017 and March 23, 2018, and most of all we are eager to continue making this a successful year.
